how do I change my camera resolution from 480 to 1080? it says my web cam supports 1080 but i cant find a guide to change it to 1080 :(

Does the job well. It would be nice if Windows and/or browsers would make it easy to change the resolution to the highest my camera supports, but judging by previous responses, I'm pretty much stuck with whatever the browser allows! My cams, laptop (1280x720) and desktop (1920x1080) both support higher resolutions, but the cam too often defaults to 640x480!

I have used this website many times throughout the years, since 1998 when I got my first desktop computer and camera. Recently, every time I try to use it on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, a face pops up after allowing camera access, then states my video track is paused. Having said that, I have used this site on this phone with no problems. I saw my sweet face (jk.) the camera -webcam worked on my iPhone. Can you help me please figure this out? Ps there is a list of various recording devices and cameras following the video track paused… for example, Standard SVGA 800×600 0.480 Unknown is the status. Why does it list status unknown? Are all these possibly connected to my camera and that’s why it is paused for me? Standard DVCPRO HD-device 960×720 0.691 Unknown-status Thank you for your time.

In most cases, camera resolution above VGA (640x480) is superfluous. See, more pixels means more information that needs to be compressed, transmitted, decompressed, and painted. It's usually best to go with "good enough" image quality.

The high dynamic range (HDR) camera are basically more bits per pixel and I found ones routinely going 8/10/12/14/16 bits per color. Many people working on multispectral. Now thermal (LWIR) , NIR, SWIR, UV and more. And many varieties of 3D both surface and volumetric. In WebRTC (HTML) only a tiny portion of what is available is acessible. When you go to buy something or refer to research results -- that ought to generate a standard camera capabilities report. I can try to share some of what i find online, but there are many tens of thousands of groups and individuals duplicating effort and no one really doing a complete job. Camera calibration needs to include standard illuminations, noise, and faulty encoding, faulty pixels, faulty image "corrections". I have talked to many camera makers and distributors. I think they might help. The camera drivers in OpenCV, in windows drivers and linux drivers and other systems many embedded - they should all have access to standard descriptor and calibrations. Any person should be able to log their camera and benchmark tools for processing. It is not hard, just tedious and many.
