Advantages of the webcam:
Started Instantly. The tripod let's me show wall maps and get closeups where I could not do this with laptop cam.
Disadvantages of the webcam:
More to carry.

Maybe a web cam the size of a match box so I could both mount on laptop screen top and take it off to hold at maps.
