Advantages of the webcam:
I got it at walmart for $19 and it has worked perfect with my raspberry pi. People also say it bypasses HDCP (which is something expensive capture cards don't)
Disadvantages of the webcam:
Some programs make it output in 4:3 so you have to un plug and replug to get 16:9
