Advantages of the webcam:
Small, unobtrusive and easy to use - just plug and play, as it says on the tin :-)
Disadvantages of the webcam:
Mounting clip is not spring loaded, so it can move if it isn't held down with something (like tape or an elastic band)

Overall, for a device bought about 12 years ago, it still works, even if not as high a resolution as more recent cams.
