Advantages of the webcam:
It's a virtual webcam - purely software based and it can be controlled / driven programmatically either via code you write or an application it comes with, giving load of options to stream the contents of a window, a screen capture, a video file, or image file, and it also offers a compositor with fades/wipes etc. It give like a virtual broadcast studio functionality - very cool.
Disadvantages of the webcam:
