Webcam: Integrated camera that comes with the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16AHP9
Rating: Good (4 out of 5)
Date:
Advantages of the webcam:
Well, it's a 2.07MP sensor that can take 1920x1080 photos and video. It has a digital privacy slider. That's already better than most webcams out there. The colours and tone are usually reproduced with reasonable accuracy. Glare is handled sufficiently, in the sense that the blooming doesn't affect the entire output, just a small region around the bright light, leaving the rest of the frame unaffected. It performs well in an ideally-lit environment. It also handles low-light scenarios surprisingly well. The motion clarity, latency, and image stabilisation are good enough if your main use case for the webcam is video calls.
Disadvantages of the webcam:
Relative to others in its class, none. In an ideal world, basically everything.
Author’s comment:
This webcam would be called sub-standard in an ideal world. Sadly, we don't live in one. In the real world, it's among the best I've seen on Windows laptops, including non-gaming ones. That doesn't really placate me. This laptop costs nearly $2000 after all. I expect more. Still, I must admit that Lenovo is the most consumer-friendly laptop manufacturer these days, especially with their Legion & LOQ line-ups. The webcam does pass the criteria to be considered usable and workable in most realistic scenarios. You may want a dedicated webcam for work conferences, depending on company policy/expectations. It's a pleasant surprise, considering how bad integrated webcams usually are on laptops, let alone gaming-oriented ones. Still, demand more from your vendor. It is your right and duty as a consumer. Exceeding rock-bottom industry standards is nothing to brag about. And lastly, to the creator of this website, thank you. It's a wonderful utility that helps countless people.
