Review #194176 about “HP Wide Vision HD Camera”
Author: Amrit Raj
Webcam: HP Wide Vision HD Camera
Rating: Good (4 out of 5)
Date:
Advantages of the webcam:
1. Decent for Basic Video Calls 640×480 (VGA) at 30 FPS is enough for standard-quality video calls on Zoom, Teams, Meet, etc. Smooth motion due to 30 FPS. 2. Low File Size & Easy Processing Low megapixels (0.31 MP) means: Videos load quickly. Requires less CPU/GPU power. Works well even on low-end laptops. 3. Good Color Consistency Average brightness, lightness, and luminosity around 60% → Picture is neither too dark nor too washed out. Low saturation (1.51%) means colors look natural and not oversaturated. 4. Low Bandwidth Requirement VGA video uses less data than HD/FHD → good for slow internet. 5. HP Wide Vision Lens HP’s "Wide Vision" usually means a slightly wider field-of-view → more area captured.
Disadvantages of the webcam:
1. Very Low Resolution (640×480) Only 0.31 MP → extremely low by modern standards. Not suitable for: Streaming Recording YouTube videos Professional calls Presentations or online teaching 2. No Built-In Microphone You must use: External mic Headphones with mic Laptop mic (if separate) 3. No Built-In Speaker Not an issue normally because laptop speakers are used, but still a limitation. 4. Low Detail & Blurriness VGA cameras often show: Grainy images Poor clarity under low light Reduced sharpness 5. Poor Low-Light Performance Bitrate (5.85 MB/s) is decent, but low MP webcam sensors usually struggle in low light → noise increases. 6. Limited Color Depth Only 31,377 colors detected → not good for: Color-accurate work Photography Professional visuals
