Review #209810 about “Lenovo Virtual camera”
Author: Ajay Mahore
Webcam: Lenovo Virtual camera
Rating: Excellent (5 out of 5)
Date:
Advantages of the webcam:
Smooth Frame Rate: It runs at 30 FPS, which provides a standard, smooth video stream for casual video calls and meetings without major stuttering. HD Quality: The resolution is 1280×720 (HD) with a standard widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78 (16:9), which fits modern screens well. Good Bitrate: A bitrate of 13.69 MB/s ensures that the data stream is stable and doesn't overly compress the image quality.
Disadvantages of the webcam:
Low Resolution & Megapixels: At only 0.92 MP, the image clarity is relatively low compared to modern 1080p or 4K webcams, leading to a somewhat grainy or soft image. No Built-in Audio Hardware: The test indicates "None" for both the built-in microphone and built-in speaker, meaning you have to rely entirely on external headsets or laptop microphones. Virtual Camera Limitation: It is listed as a "Lenovo Virtual Camera" rather than a direct hardware driver, which might sometimes introduce slight processing delays or compatibility issues with certain software.
Author’s comment:
The webcam is perfectly adequate for standard, day-to-day online classes or work meetings where high-definition video isn't a strict requirement. However, the lack of an integrated microphone is a noticeable downside, meaning you'll need a dedicated headset or separate mic to communicate effectively.
