Advantages of the webcam:
Steady on flat surfaces,gets the job done as a mic and as a camera if you have low demands or you want to have the option.It's not a toaster under use with mic or a camera or even both.

Disadvantages of the webcam:
Lots, not worth a purchase as there's better alternatives but for archiving purposes: 3 fps for video it's extremely sht,colors are all over the place and it's 640x480 >_>

Author’s comment:
The mic is really decent and kept me over the years as there's no static and my voice is clear enough that I wouldn't consider it a problem (it's not crystal clear but clear enough as to not feel I need a replacement).
