Advantages of the webcam:
When used as a webcam, it's just like a traditional overhead projector (strictly speaking, an epidiascope, since it shows paper on the desktop, not transparencies).
Disadvantages of the webcam:
Always on, when connected to USB. I'm going to have to get a switched usb hub. Probably with power supply too.
