Advantages of the webcam:
Simplicity, plug and play. Works even better with the Logitech Capture software too. sharp image, better than almost anything on the market. and nothing seems to be better for the price. 1080p works so well in low-light, something other cameras REALLY struggle with. 60fps at 720p is so smooth inbuilt mic is good enough to not need another really robust on-screen mounting solution, very adaptable, quality hinge. rubber feet. Comes with a good tripod too. Logitech capture software is great, has inbuilt chroma key too, something you don't find elsewhere. Compatible with nvenc encoder on Nvidia Graphics cards, so less lag when streaming. Easy to tell when it's recording and when it is switched off, two led strips on the camera. Form factor looks great, very modern. Robust, doesn't feel flimsy or cheap at all. Holds its value, the webcam has been out for a long time, and still commands a great used price. even despite its age, it's still regularly reccomended as the best webcam on the market for the price, wirecutter.com NYT
Disadvantages of the webcam:
Cost. It's about 2-3 times more than other webcameras. However you get more than 2-3 times the performance and features, that's before factoring in the software. So it's not for someone who just wants a working webcam. It's someone who wants to be seen clearly. Rather than just be seen. So if that matters to you, go for it. if not, get a C270 or Microsoft webcam, or just use your iPhone. no 60fps in 1080p. For people with higher bandwidth on both ends of the communication, you might want this feature. Also it's not a 4K camera. You'll have to really stretch the budget and get a Brio or something. But if you're in that market, you may as well just go all out and get an elgato capture card and a Go Pro, DSLR, and external mic to match. do it properly. This will get you half of the way there, but won't compete with a QBHD youtube streamer quality. Not even close/
Author’s comment:
It sounds expensive, but if you decide you don't need it, or you overspent. You'll get most of you money back, possibly all of it, on the used market. It's in high demand, almost always. Low risk purchase. Good performance to cost ratio. Beats nearly everything on the market right now.
